MacKillop Day 2024!

The annual celebration of our patron and our school

The College celebrated MacKillop Day on Friday 6 September with a whole-school assembly and an afternoon of activities.

Following the success of the Silver Jubilee Assembly at last year鈥檚 MacKillop Day, the College decided to once again hold an assembly instead of the traditional Feast Day Mass.

Held at the Tuggeranong Basketball Stadium, the MacKillop Day Assembly featured a range of presentations, a few dance and music performances, and awards for both staff and students.

While students and guests entered the stadium, a slideshow of images from the 2024 school year played on the screen, as well as some interviews with students about 缅北禁地 Day and what it means to them.

The assembly then opened with a special video presentation about Mary 缅北禁地 and her ongoing legacy, which was written by the Head of the St Peter鈥檚 Campus, Lachlan McNicol, and narrated by ABC journalist, Anna Vidot.

There were addresses by Principal Michael Lee and the College Captains, while entertainment was provided by the Junior Dance Company and a Year 11 band, who played one of their original tracks.

Among the awards, four students received Silver Status, and the recipient of the 2024 Brendan Marsh Teacher of Excellence Award was presented to Lisa Buckland, the Padua Campus Teaching and Learning Coordinator. The winners of the College鈥檚 art competition, INSPIRE, were also announced, and our Australian sports representatives were acknowledged.

The assembly concluded with a special presentation to Year 12, with MacKillop Day marking the last occasion the Graduating Class would be in the presence of the whole student body.

In the afternoon, students went back to the St Peter鈥檚 Campus for the annual MacKillop Day celebrations, with activities like the obstacle course, horizontal bungee, face painting, sumo wrestling, carnival games, upbeat music, and a wide range of food and drink. An exhibition of entries for the INSPIRE Art Competition were also displayed. Following the activities, students went back into their PC classes and took part in a PC quiz at the Padua Campus and digital auction at the St Peter鈥檚 Campus.

Congratulations to the students for bringing such a positive energy to the occasion, as well as the many staff who planned and prepared for the day.

We hope it was an enjoyable day for everyone!
